Rowk Music - Rowk

started as a weird Jazz, Improv, Punk, NDW Quartett in early 2008. It’s band members played in bands like Der Rote Bereich, SoKo Steidle, Hyperactive Kid, Klima Kalima, Jimi Tenor, Lotus Eaters. The original line up consists of:

Kalle Kalima - guit
Ronny Graupe - guit
Wanja Slawin - as
Oli Steidle - dr

Each of them contributed with compositions and their individual voices. After touring and recording things fell apart and the band wouldn’t be playing again before 2021. While things were slow, during this lock downs, they decided to play and record, what was already recorded but not allowed to be released (as the first recording was a radio production and the rights were owned by the radio station - very very very expensive to to get those back, obviously too expensive).

So, this recording shows the music 13 years later. Everyone extended in different musical situations and collected more and more experience, which flows directly into interpreting the music on this production. To us it feels much more settled, fresh and fun, so in the end we are very happy to be able to present our music now.

Oliver Steidle

Originally from Nuremberg/Bavaria Oliver Steidle moved to Berlin in 2000. As a drummer/composer/bandleader he worked together with Der Rote Bereich, Peter Brötzmann, Trevor Dunn, Peter Evans and many many more.
